140,260 items
The former Greene County Courthouse was erected on the Eutaw square in 1869. Smaller supplemental buildings were added on the corners of the square over the years for expansion purposes. In 1993 a new court facility was constructed on the northeast part of the square caddy-corner to this structure. It has been relatively well preserved here as a centerpiece for the historic community of Eutaw. The edifice was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, and is the focal point of the Greene County Courthouse Square District, later listed in 1979.

Greene County, with just over 9,000 people, is the state’s least populous county. The name of its county seat is pronounced like the name of the Beehive State.
