Bristol, Tennessee is the twin city to Bristol, Virginia. The two are virtually indistinguishable, yet an imaginary line divides the communities on a street called State Street. When this structure served as the Bristol post office, it served Bristol, Tennessee as well as Bristol, Virginia. It is located completely within the Tennessee side of Bristol. The structure dates to 1900, and is a contributing property to the Bristol Commercial Historic District, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
