This former courthouse was built in 1905 in the heart of downtown Brighton. It was designed by architect John J. Huddart, who was responsible for the designs of a number of courthouses throughout the state. During a 1939 PWA renovation, the elaborate roof-line and cupola were removed. It has served as the Brighton City Hall since 1975, when the county's next courthouse was erected a few block to the south.
It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
