The Colorado State Capitol was completed in 1907; it was designed by architect
Elijah E. Myers. Denver has been the state’s capital since 1876. Territorial capitals were Colorado City (now part of Colorado Springs) in 1862; Golden, from 1862 to 1867; and Denver, from 1867 to 1876.
This structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 as a contributing property to the Civic Center Historic District.
