This structure is my favorite courthouse in the state of Utah. It was originally completed in 1857, but has undergone renovation/remodeling efforts in 1887 and 1910. It was the 1910 remodeling that gave it its current Classical Revival look. Based on its original 1857 construction date, it is the oldest functioning courthouse in the Beehive State.
The edifice was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
Box Elder County is especially noteworthy in American history because it is home to Promontory Point. Promontory is the location of Promontory Summit where the United States' Transcontinental Railroad was officially completed on May 10, 1869.
