This very nice Classical Revival courthouse was erected in 1925-26 with the designs of the firm of Wight and Wight of Kansas City, Missouri.
It serves the smallest county in the state (however Wyandotte County, Kansas is one of the most populous in the state).

Built in 1872, this stately structure was originally built to be the Cherokee County Courthouse. The town of Columbus ultimately won the title of Cherokee County seat, and as a result this building was never actually used in that capacity. In the late 19th Century it was used as the Baxter Springs City Hall. In 1905 it was converted to a library, and it remains one today. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
Baxter Springs is located in the southeastern corner of Cherokee County, which forms the southeastern corner of the state. It is situated on historic Route 66 just north of the Oklahoma State line.

That's me holding the sign in front of the 105th courthouse in the state that I have visited. The county clerk of Harper County took the photograph for me. She just so happened to be walking in from lunch and then took me on a personal tour of this great beauty after the picture was taken.
