S. E. Maxon designed this 1891 Romanesque courthouse. It has a great town square that reminds me of Magnolia, Arkansas and Boise City, Oklahoma.
The town of Greenfield is featured in the 1971 movie Cold Turkey starring Dick Van Dyke. The movie is a bit whacky, but it gives watchers a glimpse of what Adair County and Greenfield looked like back in the early 1970s.

The firm of Thomas W. Williamson and Victor H. Loebsack and Associates designed this Modernist courthouse in 1955. It sits on the top of the hill in downtown Corning.
The town of Corning, Iowa is the hometown of Johnny Carson. One of his first jobs in media was in 1950 at WOW radio and television in Omaha, Nebraska.
Adams County is the least populous county in the state of Iowa with 3,704 residents in the 2020 Census.

The Allamakee County Courthouse was erected in 1939-40 using the Art Deco designs of architect Charles Altfillisch. The Public Works Administration (PWA) funded its construction. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
This was my 99th and final county to visit in Iowa, and my 100th and final Iowa county seat.

This structure served as the Allamakee County Courthouse from 1867 to 1939. It was designed and constructed by the firm of Hale, Jenkins, and Pratt. The building is located directly across the street from the 1939 courthouse that replaced it (seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/courthouselover/20479858196/in/date... ). The county's previous 1861 courthouse in Lansing, Iowa (seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/courthouselover/20512379061/in/date... ) also stands to this day.
This edifice was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
This was my 99th and final county to visit in Iowa, and my 100th and final Iowa county seat.

This structure was built in 1861 and served as the courthouse for Allamakee County until 1867 when the official Allamakee County seat was designated as Waukon. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
