The 1936 Alameda County Courthouse was designed in Art Deco style by architects from the firm of Reed & Corlett. The WPA supplied funding for the structure, one of the crown jewels of Art Deco architecture in the United States.

Built in 1873 at a cost of $18,000, the former Alameda County Courthouse in the old Brooklyn Neighborhood of East Oakland served its county until 1875, when a new courthouse was erected in downtown Oakland. This neighborhood has since been annexed to the city of Oakland.

The Alpine County Courthouse was built in 1928 in the tiny community of Markleeville. It was designed by Nevada architect Frederick J. DeLongchamps. The structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Alpine County is located just south of Reno and Carson City and is the least populous county in California. It is home to 1,175 people.

The former Amador County Courthouse in Jackson was originally built in 1863 in Romanesque style. It was ultimately remodeled 1939 under the designs of architect George Sellon. The WPA provided workers for the remodeling effort, and now it is an Art-Moderne structure.

The structure is a contributing property to the Jackson Downtown Historic District, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Amador County Courthouse, or superior court facility, is located on the northwest side of Jackson almost out in the country. It replaced the county's previous courthouse still standing downtown.
