Built in 1903, this outstanding Romanesque Revival courthouse (with an unfortunate 1970s Modern addition at its front) is prominently located on a quaint square at the east end of lovely Commerce Street in downtown Greenville. It was designed by architect Benjamin B. Smith, and is a contributing property to the East Commerce Street Historic District (listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986).

Greenville is known as the Camellia City.
