This former U.S. Post Office and Courthouse was completed in 1911 under the designs of supervising architect Oscar Wenderoth. It is still in use by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama; the U.S. Circuit Court for the Middle District of Alabama met here until that court was abolished in 1912.
The edifice was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
