Camas County is a lovely county located in central Idaho north of the Snake River Valley and the Twin Falls metropolitan area. Before the 2010 Census, it was the state's least populous county, but that title is now held by Clark County. Even so, the county is home to just over 1,100 residents.

This courthouse was originally built in 1915 as a bank and then converted into a courthouse when the county was created in 1917. Camas County is the only county in Idaho that has never actually built its own courthouse.

Built in 1871 as a general store by proprietors C. S. and E. A. Kingsley. It was used as Kennally's Tin Shop, a hardware store, and the Orchard Hotel. In 1909 it was purchased by Boise County commissioners for $1,000 for use as the county courthouse.

Today it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places along with much of the rest of Idaho City.

The Madison County Courthouse in Rexburg, Idaho was erected in Beaux-Arts style in 1920. Charles Zollinger was its construction contractor and C. A. Sundberg was its architect. It is today a National Register of Historic Places property.

Rexburg was severely damaged by the Teton Dam Flood of June 1976. The Teton River flows through northern Rexburg, and left most of the city underwater for several days after the Teton Dam ruptured. The recovery was quickened due to the cooperation of the people within the community. A museum dedicated to the Teton Dam Flood and the history of Rexburg and the area, located in the basement of the Rexburg Tabernacle, has been a major city landmark for decades.
