The outstanding 1871 Bullock County Courthouse in Union Springs was designed in Second Empire style by its architect and construction contractor M. M. Tye. Its iron and wooden embellishments make it one of the best-preserved capitols in the state.

The Bullock County Courthouse Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Midway is a small town located in southeastern Bullock County southeast of Union Springs. The town appears on maps to be midway between Montgomery and Eufaula, which I assume is how the town received its descriptive name.
