Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach is a beautiful place to visit on the Oregon coast. But if you go, pay attention to the tides. In the video the tide is coming in and being from the Great Lakes area I am not familiar with how fast this can happen. Just after shooting this video with my Nikon D4S and a 70-200 F2.8 lens I set the equipment down on my camera bag on the beach approximately 50 ft. from the water. With my back to the water I began to remove the lens cap from a different lens. Suddenly I was engulfed in a wave and my camera was floating in the water. Fortunately I was able to grab it before it carried out to sea. Of course the camera and lens are hootched. To repair the lens it costs C$1,250. The D4S is a write-off. It turned out to be an expensive trip. And I now know a lot more about tides. By the way, what appears in the video to be low clouds on the horizon is actually a thick layer of fog that soon engulfed the entire area making Haystack Rock disappear.
