This family of big headed flies is not an usual guest around here so meeting one of them is a nice surprise. The images were taken this morning, some heavy fog was present. The stack is incomplete, I've tried for about an hour to finish one but without success.

Body lenghth without head is around 3mm.

This thick caterpillar [ID anyone?] has permitted me to do another comparison between the Canon 5D Mark II + MP-E lens vs. the NEX-7 + Olympus 80 mm macro lens combination.

This time I have chosen as lead photo the image made with the Canon setup due to the nicer background.

As for resolution, what could I say? In this case I think that the images are even closer matched than the ones in the previous post, see for yourself the high resolution files.
