I took a same photo taken with Schneider Kreuznach Xenon SL 50mm f1.8 and made a monochrome photo using four different possibilities in the same module of the Darktable software.
Intention was to demonstrate that so called, monochrome rendering, depends more on software used to create mono image than on the lens or camera.
First image, upper left corner, basic processing using the same amount of blue, red and green channels is done.
In the second image (upper right corner) only blue channel is used and convert it in monochrome.
Third image (down left) uses only green channel and the last one, down and right only the red channel to create monochrome image.
The results are similar to use of red, green and blue filter with analogue monochrome film, but not quite identic.

I always feel weird when talking about monochrome rendering of lens on modern digital camera. Yes, probably, some of it is due to the lens, but it is mostly how the software used for post-processing renderrs monochrome. So, I like this combination of lens, camera and Darktable software.

S.K. Xenon 50mm f1.8 from Rollei cameras. It was supposed to be a cheaper option to Zeiss Planar but mechanical quality and IQ are exceptional IMHO.
