This photo of the Hampton Terrace Hotel in North Augusta puts into perspective just how large it was. The hotel dwarfs Lookaway Hall in the foreground. This picture was taken during the snowfall of 1914. Sadly, the hotel burned on New Year's Eve in 1917. We found the original photo in a box of my mother in law's possessions. We donated copies to the Aiken County Historical Museum and the North Augusta Municipal Building. I have removed most of the spots that were in the original photo, tweaked the contrast and added a sepia tone.
