The vehicle I use to take Space Coast launch pics.
The platform gets me up over the reeds and bushes, and gives a surprisingly different perspective even when there are no bushes in play.
The tripods work fine for the first half minute or so, but after the sound of the rocket reaches my vantage point, the whole car shakes too much to use a tripod mounted camera, and I have to go hand-held with the 300+1.4xTC rig if I want to continue shooting.
For the 10 mile distant Orion launch the Delta IV Heavy had disappeared into the clouds before the sound reached the car, so the vibration (and outright physical abuse) wasn't an issue.
