Little Green Heron - Blackpoint Drive, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Titusville, Florida

I'm not sure if this is a male or a female, but I couldn't resist titling this "Soccer Mom" with her being all fluffed up, looking like a soccer ball.

FYI - Rather than zooming out to 100 mm, I left the zoom at 400 mm and captured this 8 shot composite image. The first capture was the heron (pretty much full frame from head to feet), and the other 7 shots where of her surroundings, to give me room for a meaningful composition while maintaining plenty of detail in the subject.

Going from eye to eye with 2 quick shots,
and then blending them together in PhotoShop

And. exactly the how I saw it as my eye refocused as it went from bird to bird. So, I figure the blend is a more accurate representation of what I saw than what the camera recorded.
