Frederick's Grove, Channahon, Illinois

Didn't realize it when I casually took this shot from the bridge at the top of Frederick's Grove at McKinley Woods. But when I saw the picture on the computer, it screamed classical painting.

I went photographying sunet at West Branch Forest Preserve in DuPage County and was about to leave when I heard loud calls of the Canadian geese from everywhere, first one group then another, landing in the water. They had come to their resting place for the night. Hundreds of them flew from afar and into this little lake and they let out the familiar geese calls. They sounded pretty musical to me (I know their reputation as poop machines). I thought why not give them a chance to be in photography imortality if they get to be put on Flickr. I guess this pair is lucky. No processing except for white balance changed to "Shade."
