Monarch Butterfly at Bluff Spring Fen, Elgin, Illinois

It's quite an unpleasant day today as the wind has been howling all day with the temperature hovering in the low teens. We really need something to remind us of a different time, a time of warmth.

I saw birds, insects and other small wild life at the Bluff Spring Fen in Elgin last Saturday. This was just one of many butterlies that greeted me with their beautiful wings.

Red Lacewing at Chicago Botanic Garden

She was everybody's favorite but she did pose for me :) These little flowers seem to be her favorites and she lingered long enough for me to get some good shots off.
