Red Tailed Hawk taking a bath at Rivertrail Nature Center

As I promised to Laura after seeing her chickadee picture, I went out during lunch hour to the forest preserve and visited my old killer friend. If you followed my stream and remembered, I met her two years ago, when I looked into her eyes and saw myself.

As you can see, she certainly matured a bit and her beak has grown ridiculously long.

The red tailed hawk is a fearsome predator. She is known to kill ducks as witnessed by my Flickr friend Melissa Kung in California recently.
