October 1974 and NIR have won a contract to move spoil from Mageramorne to the oil terminal at Cloghan Point west of Whitehead. Using the former UTA built spoil wagons, the work was initially entrusted to the DH class locomotives, but they soon proved unequal to the task and were replaced by a spare 101. Late in October 1974, DH 3 takes a spoil train out of Whitehead.

Probably taken in the year I was learning to drive - with L-Plates on an Austin 1100 and the "old man" in the passenger seat - 102 "Falcon" leads the 14.30 Belfast - Dublin "Enterprise" over the Cusher River north of Tandragee.

DH 2 comes off the Antrim branch at Knockmore Junction - while I don't think this is the same day as my chase on Noel Scott's bike, it's almost certainly 1973 during the Antrim line renewal.

The three DH locomotives were elusive beasts, largely due to their spending lengthy periods out-of-use at York Road (generally awaiting increasingly unavailable spare parts). This is thought to be 1973 (although I am uncertain) and DH 2 is shunting bogie PW wagons at Lisburn.

1973 is another "best guess" for this shot of 101 "Eagle", waiting to depart from Dublin Connolly with the 17.30 "Enterprise" service to Belfast Great Victoria Street.
