There is a small broad gauge rail network in north-eastern Hungary around the town of Záhony. The only broad gauge locomotives owned by MAV are a fleet of eight M62s or Class 628.5 which are based at Záhony.

On Sunday 30th April 2017, PTG Tours operated a special train which visited as much of the broad gauge network inside Hungary as possible. The train was worked by MAV 628 518 and two Ukrainian Railways coaches (MAV own no broad gauge passenger stock). It is seen here at the iron ore discharge facility near Tuzsér - note that the ground is full of the iron ore pellets.

Sadly due to customs issues we were unable to travel via the bridge over the Tisa River between Eperjeske in Hungary and Solivka (Станція) in Ukraine - although we did travel right up to the bridge itself so we ran to Chop (Чоп) from Záhony via the duel gauge bridge over the River Tisa.
