The current cold weather has transformed the countryside around my house into something far more spooky then the usual lush green acres. Mist and hoar frost circle the sun in up to minus 15 degree temperatures. Nature retreats into it's shell.

This is at the end of my road - It was once a Roman fort housing about 500 Roman auxiliary soldiers, and stood on an old Roman road called 'The Stanegate'. The church dates to somewhere around the 17th century.
