Looking west across the Burryport Road crossing in Brackmills, 1990. The barriers have been removed and the trap points have been clamped and padlocked. At the time a few rail wagons remained at the end of the line behind Salthouse Road. No idea when they were removed.

An unidentified London Midland class 350 'Desiro' units crosses an unusually quiet M1 at Milton Malsor, just north of junction 15.
IMO, not one of my greatest shots, but included anyway. I might remove it once I develop the black and white film I took the same day on the OM-2. I had been hoping for 2x class 86 on the 4L92 Ditton - Felixstowe a little later, but it turned out to be a double let-down, as it was a 'Skoda'. Not only that, but the consist was mainly empty container flats. Ho-hum.

An 'up' Pendolino hurries past the site of Banbury Lane level crossing, now bypassed by the bridge on which I am standing. It's a shame that this location only sees a non-stop stream of Pendolinos and Voyagers.

In the days of loco hauled trains, this was a good place to watch passing trains, but it was pretty useless as a photo location. There was a small LNWR pattern signal box here to control the level crossing, but I think this was removed in the early 1980s. The intensive Virgin service along this line meant that the level crossing had to go. Latterly controlled by Rugby PSB, waits of twenty minutes here were not unknown.

Does the green cabin in the foreground ruin this picture? I'm not sure, but if any Network Rail people are reading this, please remove that bush!

In July 2010, the Wicksteed Park Railway ran 'Steam in the Park'. I don't think the WPR ever ran any steam locos of it's own, but it was nice to see steam on this attractive little line.

This loco, named 'Thomas Wicksteed', belongs to Kew Bridge Steam Museum, and is the newest working steam locomotive in Great Britain, having been completed in 2009.
