A serene glacial stream meanders through Whistler's scenic alpine wetlands, connecting Alta and Green Lakes in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Whistler Peak with an early autumn dusting of fresh snow looms large in the distant backdrop, an exhilarating sign that a new ski and ride season is just around the corner.

Golden deciduous shrubs and willow branches line the stream's pristine banks. Fox gloves and Indian paintbrushes are among the wildflowers in the wetlands. This alpine riparian zone is also a habitat for yellowthroat warblers and blue herons. Black bears are drawn to the habitat to forage for food especially in the fall months in preparation for hibernation, and beavers ply their iconic trade along the rivulet. expl#39

The pristine glacial waters of picturesque Duffey Lake mirror an iconic Joffre Peak (2713 m, 8900 ft) in the vanishing-point backdrop. A rainforest fringe of Douglas fir and Western red cedar is interspersed with the bright deciduous yellows and oranges of autumn alder.
