The plant goes about a quarter mile or more down to the right. You can see the street blocked, were part of the building fell into the street 2 years ago.
A drive-by the old Packard Auto Plant. Abandoned since about 1959.... and continuing to deteriorate. At one time it had 3.5 million square feet of manufacturing space, spanning a good 6/10 of a mile long. At one time the plant employed 40,000 workers. It has been the playground of many graffiti artists, taggers and urban exploring photographers. It was recently purchased by an investor from Peru - who paid about $400,000. He is now renovating a part of the plant.

A stop at the Trinity Cemetery, which borders the old Packard Motors Auto Plant. Trinity Cemetery has many grave sites dating back to the early 1900s - most with German names on the stones. The newer sections of the cemetery are up close to a fence that borders train tracks, and then the the auto plant.
The Packard Motors plant was pretty much abandoned in the late 1950s..... and the 3.5 million square feet of manufacturing space was left to fall apart slowly. Recently an investor from Peru bought the property for about $400,000 - He has just started renovation a small part of the property.
