Found On the Road Squished - Hamtramck, Michigan
Cross Streets - Yemans and Joseph Campau.
My new photo project, inspired by a recent Popular Photography magazine article called "Plan to Scan" - Scanography. After reading the article, I got an old Dell laptop going, running Windows XP.... and hooked it up to an even older Epson scanner to start my project, Since our weather has been warming up (snow melting), the roads have started to clear up enough to find old smashed cans and other objects to scan. To quote the author - "I discovered my scanner was in reality almost the equivalent of a digital 8x10 inch view camera, minus the lens" BUT....Need I say, picking up trash in the gutter can be a bit of a challenge at times. A few days ago, I stopped to pick up a smashed beer can on the road. I found out fast what some smokers must use there empty beer cans as ash trays, before tossing them out the window - P.U...... I can rid of that can fast. Same with another beer can a few weeks ago, that had a little beer left in it..... nothing like the smell of stale beer to turn your stomach :-) Anyway, with a scanner, your only limits are objects that are flat and can fit on the glass bed of the scanner. No need to put the lid down on the scanner, since you may want to throw your background into darkness. The author suggests you put a black reflector above the bed..... I just shut the lights off. Look for more pop/beer scans soon.... plus other objects.

As in "Red Bull Gives You Wings" :-)
Back to my artistic scans of squished cans and the like. No info on this, other that my friend Kathy (a.k.a. Kitty Mommy) gave it to me. I loved how the top of the can survived and remained round
