The Delaware National Guard's 198th Expeditionary Signal Battalion is moving into a modernized ESB-Enhanced formation. The smaller, modular ESB-E network transport equipment package enables these signal formations to more rapidly deploy and maneuver across the battlefield and provide global robust and resilient network connectivity to the units they support.
The 198th ESB-E will be the seventh unit to be fielded with the ESB-E tool suite, which is a critical element of Capability Set 21. CS21 delivers smaller, lighter and faster communications systems that are easier to operate and provide increased network communication Primary, Alternate, Contingency and
Emergency (PACE) plan options for signal path diversity in congested and contested environments.
The modernized commercial network tool suite is also tailorable and scalable to enable the ESB-Es to support different sized units, from teams to corps elements, in a wide variety of mission sets. (U.S. Army National Guard Photo by Sgt. Laura Michael.)
