To celebrate the holiday weekend I took my young nephew (aka "the nimble goat boy") on a nice hike at the Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica mountains. What a great place! Besides lovely wide trails, woodland oaks, and grassy meadows, there is an old western town movie set, still in use today. You may have seen some of the movies and TV shows filmed here:

Along PCH in Malibu there's a hillside covered in yellow and white daisies. Today I finally had a chance to pull over and take some photos. And not a moment too soon. Half the hillside has been recently graded, and a bulldozer sits nearby, waiting.
