Almost made it to the top of Vernal Falls, via the John Muir trail. After hiking nearly two miles, with a 900 ft vertical ascent, three scary steep slippery snowfield crossing did me in, and we ha to turn back. sadly, my wonky knee said "enough". But what a beautiful hike we had!

On Sunday night we hiked to the base of lower Yosemite Falls to catch the moonbow, but 30 or so photogs had beaten us to it...tripods all lined up in a row along the bridge, getting soaked in the mist. The moonbow was gorgeous sight, but by the time I squeezed into position, the clouds had come over and the moon disappeared.
Monday night we ended up at Cooks meadow for a view of the moonbow at Upper Yosemite Falls, serenaded by a choir of frogs.
Many thanks to my brother and nephew for joining me, who don't think I'm nutty at all for standing in a dark field in the cold in the middle of the night listening to frogs, waiting for the moon...and enjoying every moment xoxo

My nephew is showing an interest in photography, so I try to encourage him at every opportunity. Our trip to Yosemite was the perfect excuse for more photography lessons.
