I recently discovered the book 'Modern Origami' by James Sakoda.
The term 'modern' was selected because the style of folding attempts to emphasize the beauty of the straight line and geometric forms.
I must say I like the abstractness of his models ;-)
Here you see the 'Owl-base', which is used to create several models.
The photo is up-side-down, I like that shape better, more positive upwards energy. Anyway…... it is a nice neck exercise or just turn your phone or tablet ;-))

Note from the designer himself:
"The rabbit, with its beady eyes and its waistcoat must certainly be considered to be the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland."
Like the Owl (see first comment box) it has a foot, which enables the top-heavy figure to stand. Both origami animals have the same "Owl-base" ( see second comment box).

An abstract version of an origami Lion, also folded from the Owl-base (see first comment box)
Note of the designer: ""The Lion, which was first discovered by my son Bill, has been recognized as a dog as often as it has as a lion"".
So what your first impression?
