"I'm very happy to tell you, that Marjan is back!!", sings this King Dragon ;-))

Dear friends, I hope you are all in good health and spirit! There are still things that need to be done in our new house, but slowly starting to return to the normal life.

I folded this dragon last year. It is folded from 3 pieces of paper: one for the body, the head and the wings.

I love this origami "Fairy" by Yoshihisa Kimura, it's a golden oldie and still a favorite of mine.
I thought to write a little story about these two ice-fairies, that they are in doubt if they should leave already or stay a little bit longer to spread their magic to the people.
But while taking this photo, I noticed I was humming the song of Peter Sarstedt "Where Do You Go To My Lovely" and also remembering the words of the chorus:

"But where do you go to my lovely
When you're alone in your bed
Tell me the thoughts that surround you
I want to look inside your head, yes I do."

Funny, how the mind works. So now you have two stories.;-)
If you want to listen to the song, just click here.

There is also a turorial.
Each 'fairy' is folded from two pieces of paper:
- body: 15x15cm
- head: a square 15x15cm diagonally in half

I love Japan also because of their wonderful mythological creatures and spirits, who are so different than in our Western culture.
One of these creatures is a 'Kappa'. I folded an origami baby-Kappa, they have their offspring too, you know.
They do look a little bit strangeā€¦.. and I can imagine they are living in the Tashiro-ike Pond (see first comment box). ;-))

Some time ago I folded 'Kappa Mask', designed by Toyoaki Kawai. (see second comment box).

~~~
What is a Kappa?
The Kappa is a mythological monster said to inhabit ponds and rivers in Japan. This strange creature is said to have the appearance of both a humanoid and reptile and are extremely cunning. Kappas have over 80 different names, though the most common are kawappa, gawappa, and kawaso.
I made a lot of photos of this little origami King Dragon, because of the various expressions it got, depending on the position of the head, besides that it was fun folding it ;-))
In this shot one can see a figure like mythological person instead of a dragon. That's the reason I show you this last version of this lovely origami model. I processed the photo to give it a more magical look.
In the first comment box you can see two previous photos of the same model.
Enjoy your Sunday and stay safe ;-)
