A different way to design new origami models is putting the best of two designs into one. An example of that is this 'KNL Dragon' by Robert J. Lang.
He used the head of the Chinese Dragon (Kunihiko Kasahara), the body of the Winged Dragon (Robert Neale) and a touch of his own.
It is also reflected in the name: K(asahara)N(eale)L(ang) or KNL Dragon.
In Lang's book you find the theoretical explanation how the proces was done. I put the above mentioned dragons also in the first comment box.
Model: Origami KNL-Dragon / Opus 132
Design: Robert J. Lang
Diagrams in the book "Origami Design Secrets - 2nd edition" by Robert J. Lang
Paper:
I folded this dragon with a 30x30cm Unryu-paper, treated with paper wall glue
Final size: length 16cm, height 8cm, width 9cm
