What a brilliant job the staff and volunteers do on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, not least the attention to detail in presentation of its locomotives. One of the highlights of the 2024 Steam Gala event was 'Schools' Class 4-4-0 926 'Repton' bearing the classic 1960s 'Ian Allan Railtour' headboard, seen ready to take the 2P07 1243 Grosmont to Pickering service on Sunday 29th September. BR Standard '9F' 2-10-0 92134 was presented for the weekend as the erstwhile Lickey incline banker 92079, complete with headlight and 85F Bromsgrove shed plate, a duty it performed there between 1956 and 1963. Having just undertaken its banking duty on the previous departure from Grosmont hauled by 4953 'Pitchford Hall', the banker has dropped down the grade from Goathland prior to its next banking duty, the single line token having just been exchanged with the Grosmont signalman.

CP's Oshawa turns returns to Agincourt Yard while CN 305 grinds uphill below. If it's a little blurry, that's probably because it can be quite difficult to hear a CP train approaching while CN is rumbling through the cut here, and I remember being rather caught off guard by such a scenario on more than one occasion.
