A memorial bench for my dad in the Tree Peony Garden within Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha's 100 acre, public Botanical garden and center (more about the botanical garden here and here).
The stone bench was designed to to complement the three large Kaneko ceramic sculptures that surround the Tree Peony Garden. Jun Kaneko is an renown ceramic and set design artist based in Omaha. As Kaneko says in this 5 min. CBS News piece on Kaneko's art, "I call it the spiritual scale. I am trying to make some piece strong enough to pull viewer into it. Then the physical scale is not the issue. You become one with it."
The inscription on the bench reads "Whoever loves a garden will find contentment within" which is a Chinese proverb fitting for the Tree Peony Garden (the Tree Peony is the national flower of China).

I recently returned from a week in my home town, Omaha (for Fathers Day, the College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium, music & good friends, etc).
I spent some time in parts of the Lauritzen Gardens, the 100 acre Omaha Botanical Gardens.

Captured this guy with a 200mm telephoto (unfortunately he and his friends refused to fly any closer to the edge of the marsh for a better shot).
