Rusty Blackbird (female).

About 9 inches long. In spring the males are black with a bluish and green iridescence. The females are dark gray. In the fall they are mopre rust-brown,especially the head, breast and back. Both sexes have conspicuous pale yellow eyes.

They inhabit wooded swamps and damp woods with pools during migration and boreal bogs in the breeding season.

They range from Alaska and across northern Canada to southern Canada, and northern New York and New England. They winter from southeastern South Dakota and southern New England south to the Gulf Coast.
