Katherine bought The Chief in 1992. Since then, he spent most of his life in San Francisco. Yes, a dozen years in SF with a manual transmission and no power steering. Many people who needed to move a couch, a TV, or an entire apartment pressed The Chief into service. He also many many trips to Los Angeles, and a trip to Minnesota. Over the years, The Chief's developed some issues: a broken cassette deck, a leaky a/c, cracks in the windshield, and many, many dents.
Recently we decided it was time to let The Chief go to the great parking lot in the sky. As if he knew what was happening, he started breaking down. Today, we found out the master cylinder is about to fail. We could replace it, but it would cost almost as much as the value of the car. So, we're giving the car to Katherine's brother and picking up a new car this week.
So long, Chief. You were a good old worker and a good old pal.
