this is our neighbour "J" a wonderful guy. He's well into his eighties. Whenever we pass if he sees us we're likely to get invited in for a coffee, which usually includes a good slug of eau de vie (plum brandy). He speaks with a very strong patois accent which sometimes makes him difficult to understand. Today he was relating some of the war time tales from around here where the german army would round up any young men spotted hanging around (probably for enforced labour).
He was also saying about when he was young most people here worked on the land, there were no tractors. Most of the heavy work was done by bulls or horses.
A lovely man, he's definitely seen a few changes over the years!
