I always thought that the condor was just another buzzard. The two I saw seemed intelligent and their feather colors and patterns and even the head is quite beautiful.
Taken at Parque Condor a short distance from Otavalo Ecuador. This park is a hospital for injured birds and a permanent residence for those who are beyond return to the wilds.

This farm land is on a slope of one of the 3 volcanoes surrounding Otavalo.
As with many volcanic slopes, the soil is rich and good for farming. I suppose that most of what is shown is corn, but there are many crops grown in this area, especially potatos.

One of a few excellent weavers alive in the Otavalo area employing traditional techiques to weave beautiful goods. He also spins and dyes his own yarn which is mostly wool, llama and alpaca. This photo shows him at a back strap loom.
