The canyon wren inhabits the rocky cliffs of western North America, from southern Canada to Mexico. Known for its cascading song, this small bird is more often heard than seen. It feeds on insects and spiders, expertly extracting them from rock crevices while foraging along cliffs in its arid habitat.

Snowy Egrets have bright yellow feet, often called "golden slippers," which play a crucial role in hunting. As they stir the water, their feet may attract fish and other prey, making them easier to catch. The yellow contrasts with dark water, helping the egret track its movements, while the white plumage blends with the bright sky, keeping it less visible to prey. Juveniles start with greenish legs and feet, that gradually darken to black and yellow as they mature.

With ears pricked and eyes locked ahead, this coyote dashes full throttle through the snow, honing in on the faint rustle of a rodent beneath the snow.
