"I" is for my size "I" - 5.5.mm crochet hook

Crochet hooks come in a variety of sizes because yarn does, too. Crochet patterns always list the type and size of the yarn and also the corresponding crochet hook size.

There is an almost universal letter/number system for identifying the size of crochet hooks. It sometimes varies with manufacturers so I try to stick to one type of crochet hook. These are Clover crochet hooks, highly recommended by most professional crocheters online.

And I must agree. They are very ergonomically comfortable to hold which is important because one can get involved and sometimes crochet for hours!

In my photo, the hooks range in size from "B" - 2.25mm to "J" which is a numerical size 6.00 mm.

The crochet hook I have been using today, conveniently (or maybe serendipitously?), the green one... a size "I" or 5.5 mm.

I was wondering what I would select today as my "I" word but there it was, right in my hand!
