First mountain refuge.

This is the route that goes up to Cerro López in Bariloche from "la panchería" in Circuito Chico. The path goes up the rocks on the side of Arroyo López, quickly gaining height and opening up to the first viewpoints with views of Cerro López, Cerro Llao Llao and Lake Nahuel Huapi. After crossing a sector with rocks, the path enters the forest until reaching the "first refuge" of Cerro López, also known as Refugio Roca Negra. Here I rested and enjoyed the views of the Llao Llao area before continuing towards the next refuge, Refugio López.

From Refugio Roca Negra, the trail continues up steeply through the forest until the trail becomes a slightly wider and flatter path, although it still has a slight slope. If you pay attention on the way up after the first refuge, you can see the red Refugio López further up the mountain.

After walking a little along this wider and flatter path, I crossed a stream and then the path continues uphill, more and more pronounced, until I reached the door of the refuge. Many choose to stay here to enjoy the views and eat something tasty, but I still wanted to continue climbing the mountain and it was not too late, I continued to the summit of Cerro López (Pico Turístico), notifying the refugee in advance, charging and respected the instructions she gave me.

It is best to make this climb from Refúgio López to Pico Turístico in good weather to enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views in all of Bariloche with a clear sky. If you want to reach Pico Turístico and not just Refugio López, it's important to start the day very early, even in the summer months! For everyone's safety, refugees usually don't let you up after noon.

Most hike during the day, but Refúgio López has beds for those who want to stay overnight, and also has a camping area outside the refuge with beautiful views of the hill. During the winter, Cerro López becomes a cross-country ski destination in Bariloche.
