1,5km (19 minutes) to Petra from my hotel on foot.
I took the cab for 1 JOB to come back at the end.

The city is accessed through a 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mi) long gorge called the Siq, which leads directly to the Khazneh. Famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage".

Petra's open & close time:
The site always opens at 6am and closes at 6pm in the summer and 4pm in the winter. Petra's official website does not specify exactly what the summer and winter months are, but bear in mind that the country is in the Northern Hemisphere and has seasons opposed to Brazil.
Numbers:
The lost city of the Nabataeans was surprisingly elected one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. A feat for an archaeological site located in the middle of the Jordanian desert, a tiny Middle Eastern country jammed among not very friendly neighbors. But do not worry, knowing Jordan is easy and safe, although not very cheap.
This situation began to change with the list of Wonders and was consolidated in 2009. In 2010, Jordan's largest tourist treasure recorded a record 975,000 visitors in a single year.
Everything looked like a sea of roses to the 'pink city', but the numbers have changed a lot in the last five years. Worsening conflict in Syria, Iraq, Israel and Palestine, neighbors of the peaceful kingdom of Jordan, has driven most Western tourists from this historically convoluted region of the world.
In 2017, Petra got 521,000 tourists.
Having the incredible 'pink city' almost just for you, being able to walk calmly, without queues or push-shooters, without taking a 'selfie stick' and without full-blown TOURISTS arriving every 15 minutes is a souvenir that is priceless .

Book at least two days to get to know Petra, because the archaeological site is very large and it is extremely tiring to try to see everything in just one visit, especially if you want to walk the trails. In addition, it is only sleeping in Wadi Musa that you will have the opportunity to see the city at night in the show 'Petra by Night'.
