It's a true pleasure to visit, hike, and take in the scenery in Zion National Park.
The Watchman Overlook is one of the park's most recognizable shooting locations, with the view from the Canyon Junction Bridge considered the best.
Unfortunately, due to the insane popularity, Zion National Park has made the decision to close the bridge to pedestrians - no foot traffic allowed.
Since we have a tall vehicle, I came up with this plan: Drive really slow, use a faster shuter speed and keep shooting through the opened passenger window and hope for the best.
We drove the bridge twice that evening, and each pass I took about 5 photos in succession. It was so backlit that I really couldn't see much through the viewfinder, but thankfully I did end up with one lucky shot!
Actually I could really stand on the bridge and take my shot that evening because it was off-season and there was no rangers patroling at all. In fact there was one photog on the bridge, but he was standing at the end of the bridge. I don't think that angle was ideal but he probably didn't want to be bold and risked a chance to be sent away.
Today is April Fools' Day; believe nothing and trust no one except me! 😁😉
