Lenticular clouds are stationary clouds that form mostly in the troposphere, typically in perpendicular alignment to the wind direction. They are often comparable in appearance to a lens or saucer. Nacreous clouds that form in the lower stratosphere sometimes have lenticular shapes.

Yet another shot through the windshield of a moving vehicle photo...
Luck had it that we were assigned with the front-row seats on this heavily road traveling day. As we were heading toward Johannesburg in the late afternoon, a thunder storm was developing in the distance.
Shortly after this photo was taken, lightning began, but no matter how quick my shutter finger reacted, not a single lightning image was captured. I gave up after my "viewfinder eye" grew tired.
Despite my failure, I was happy that I got this one. :-)

In addition to being the home of the Johnson Space Center, the Clear Lake Recreational Area is also known as the Boating Capital of Texas. It has the greatest concentration of boats of any region in Texas and claims the third largest fleet of recreational boats in all of the United States. It's located about 45 minutes southeast from downtown Houston on Galveston Bay. Construction of the Marina in the late '80s is often credited with the rebirth of Kemah, Texas.

These abandoned concrete silos in Houston's East End are preserved as a part of Buffalo Bayou Partnership's plans for green space improvements along the eastern stretch of the bayou.

Taken two days ago, 8 hours into our first two planned 12-hour drive days, en route from New York City to Houston, TX.
The day started out very gloomy, but the clouds gradually thinning out, turned the dull sky into an amazing showcase, decorated with at times alien looking cloud formations.
It was one picture perfect day for all photographers!
Needless to say, it pained me for not able to stop the car and start shooting; what a tease!
Alas, at least I was able to capture a few through the dirty windshield of our highspeed moving car!
What's captured here was just a small sample of the greatness we witnessed.
