Technically it's shortly after sunrise... 😊
Arrived at the lakeside at predawn hour, enjoyed the ever changing colors amid the chilling air.
Many thanks to your visit and/or kind comments, wishing you good weather and a pleasant day/night! 💕

Here's a photo of the iconic lighthouse bathing in the early sunlight, I got there by 5:30am and had the lighthouse all to myself and one other photog. Walking around and finding this small puddle, I was super happy with even just a partial lighthouse reflection.
Many thanks to your visit, favs and comments; wishing you a wonderful holiday season!

Our original plan was to keep heading north and so we thought we would never get to see the elusive Three Sisters again.
As fate would have it, we had to go back to Calgary a week later for some needed supplies. On our way back to Banff, we passed through Canmore and naturally we felt obligated to pay the Sisters yet another visit, our 3rd by then.
Not an easy shot for it was a bright and hazy day, choppy water due to the wind, and to make matters worse, I was shooting into the sun.
I couldn't remember if I had stacked the CPL with a 3-stop and 10-stop ND filter, a 6-stop and a 10-stop, or just a 10-stop alone. (It was bright!) My rationale was to bring out more dark details, smooth out the sky and the water somewhat.
I like the result, and I hope you would, too! 😊
Per www.travelalberta.com - "In 1883, Albert Rogers named these mountains the Three Nuns after a storm left a heavy veil of snow on the northern face of all three peaks. They were renamed the Three Sisters in 1886 by George Dawson and they are referred to individually as Big Sister, Middle Sister and Little Sister. Heavily associated with the town of Canmore in the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies known as Kananaskis Country, the Three Sisters may be the most recognized peaks in the Bow River Valley section of the TransCanada Highway (Hwy 1)."
OK, but which one is Big, and which one is Little? 🤔
It's Friday, wishing you all a very nice weekend!
Thank you for your visit, dear Flickr friends!

Continue with my Two series, here's one with two rising suns at Vermillion Lake.
Arrived there well before sunrise, no one was around besides me in that section, the sunrise was spectacular.
When we were there the prior evening for sunset photos (turned out to be just a meh), we met a very gifted and dedicated photog, plus a family from Quebec who spoke very little English (French speakers). They converted a Ford Transit into a camper van with 2 bunk beds, no bathroom, enough space to fit four adults and one large dog. It was interesting to see their setup and hear their travel plans.
That morning, my new friend (the gifted photog) stopped by after taking photos from further down the road. At this point I was about to wrap up for the morning but he was still enthusiastically telling me of his adventures. He usually goes photo-shooting with his wife but not this time as she couldn't take time off from work. They would stop at one location for sunrise, then drive a whole day to a different location for sunset, then drive elsewhere for the next morning sunrise, squeezing as much time they could spare, covering as many distances and taking as many photos they could capture in the scenic locations.
As he talked, my eyes continued to dart around, hoping to find something interesting and ended up with this shot.
Single exposure, quite a challenging shot technically with the sun being so bright and backlit. To my delight, the R5 continues to shine with its ability to retain details in the underexposed areas (mountains).
Thank you for stopping by, and I will continue to do my best to pay you a visit. May you have a pleasant weekend!

15 minutes after sunset at Medicine Lake, Jasper National Park.
The colors were at their best 💖 but didn't last long.
Here's how the scientists solved the mystery of this disappearing lake:
"The underground system is extensive and during the 1970s researchers used a biodegradable dye to determine the underground river's extent. The dye showed up in many of the lakes and rivers in the area to the point where it became clear that the underground system was one of the most extensive in the world."
