Unique and highly scenic salt flat formed when Lake Bonneville dried up, near the Utah-Nevada border.

We were trekking east on I-80, I was standing on top of the View Point Tower (not a tall structure by all means!) looking across the highway into the salt flat.

Unfortunately, there's no road to cross the highway to the other side. To reach there, we would have to travel 30 min further east, make a U-turn onto I-80W, and drive another 30 min back.

Bonneville Salt Flats, I'll be back!

I appreciate your visit and/or kind comments, wishing you a healthy and happy day!

I-80E, somewhere between Bonneville Salt Flats and Salt Lake City.

It's always nice to follow a well-lit vehicle, one which traveling at a good and steady speed after dark.

(GPS is not the exact location.)

Happy Trails to your next road trip!

I'm home! 😀

Originally I had planned for a month-long trip, but we got tired so we decided to come home, saving 3 out of 5 "Mighty Five" for the future.

This photo shows that we should always turn the other way no matter how pretty the viewpoint in front of our eyes is!

We were in La Sal Mountains Viewpoint, everyone was watching the sunrise happening behind the mountains.

I don't know what made me decide to turn my head around, but I'm glad I did.

I'll sure be busy catching up with your photos in the next few days😊 ; thank you for your visit! 💕

Let's be honest, I went on this trip with a case of photography anxiety!

To combat it, I conditioned my brain to have no expectations - just show up and do my best.

Still, I was nervous deep inside.

On this cloudless morning, we got to Mesa Arch about half an hour before sunrise.

Being a Sunday, I knew there would be a big crowd and I did not count on getting a spot in front of the arch.

Perhaps being a Sunday worked to my advantage, for there were only two photogs with tripods taking up the center stage (the rest probably knew better to avoid the weekend chaos!), most others (at least 100 if not more, scattered around) were casual visitors just there to capture the sunrise with cell phones. Many of them climbed up the rocks to the left of the arch or the higher ground on the right side behind the arch, obviously they didn't understand what made this a unique sunrise shooting location!

There were even TWO open spots in front of the arch: the 1st and the 3rd on the right side (facing the arch)!

I took the 3rd spot (from the right) and I held my ground, though I really wished I could take a photo of that nearby dome shaped rock which was bathing in the glowy pre-dawn light!

I did not bring a tripod because I needed the freedom to move around.

I walked away with 4 good photos, that's way more than I have ever expected!

Here's the first in the series with the sun had just risen above La Sal Mountains!

Thanks for your visit, I wish you a happy Friday!!! 💕😘

As the first rays of sunshine hit the sheer cliff edge behind, light bounced upwards and illuminated the underneath of Mesa Arch with a stunning red glow!
