Taken Christmas afternoon on the golf course near my Daughters house in Sheffield. I have to confess my Grandson had taken a similar but better photo 2 weeks earlier with the evening sun lighting up the tops of the trees

The idea was, that I prune this Tulip tree back to a bare trunk every spring. Then the young new years growth would be bright yellow in autumn after the first frosts. Unfortunately since I planted it 20 years ago we have only once had early hard frosts to produce the full yellow colour. This is about the best it has been for a long time

My variegated Holly sometimes puts out a pure golden shoot. I eventually changing to normal, but this shoot is still pure bright gold now @ end of July
