Col, Windy, very Wet on sth coast Thursday. Could only dash straight to Samphire Hoe to try for a pic of this one in morning. Could go nowhere else so sat all afternoon in car watching the heavy rain & listening to radio! the joys of travel! lol. Samphire Hoe is a promontory near Dover under the White Cliffs & was created for the spoil excavated building the Channel tunnel

Tiny orchid found today thanks to two young Ladies who I had shown where the Monkey orchid was went back & marked these with sticks.My eyesight would never have found them in a large meadow

Quite tall spikes, taller than most of our Orchids. They were later this year & only a small number open at the one day a year open day @ the Suffolk reserve, only 2 public reserves in UK for this species

With some imagination you can see the "Helmet" & "tunic buttons" that give it the name. Taken on sunday morning on my way back from my south coast trip. Only 2 public reserves for this in UK & only one open day a year.
